About

Dub is the thread just beneath the surface of all James Pasqua does. Dub informs his drumming style, influences his recordings, and follows him around like a cloud of spacey reverb — tying together his many talents as a drummer, audio engineer, and indie label founder. Not just his favorite genre, dub is the framework through which James creates.

You may know James from the podcast he co-hosts, A Conversation In Dub, from his band Steppadelic, or perhaps you've seen him at a local reggae show. His biggest influences include Sublime, Scientist, and John Brown's Body — revolutionary artists who each put a unique spin on reggae. Since receiving a drum set on his tenth birthday, James has studied audio engineering at Full Sail University, interned at studios in New York City, performed all over the United States, and always brought his own distinctive style with him.

If you’ve ever wondered what dub reggae sounds like on the astral plane, Dubbing Out of Orbit is the answer. James Pasqua’s sophomore solo album takes listeners on a sonic voyage through a galaxy of dub. Recorded and produced entirely at Pasqua's Las Vegas home studio and released on Cold Summer Records, Dubbing Out of Orbit follows his debut The Arcadia Sessions: A Dub Experience and continues a journey rooted in Jamaican dub techniques.

Consisting of twelve fully instrumental tracks, this record explores space, both outer and aural, driven by powerful drums and bass. Riffs and melodies warp under the forces of space and time, creating a sound that is unearthly but grounded in rhythmic bliss.

This is music for headphone voyagers, late-night drives through the desert, and anyone who feels the need for a deep bass line that shakes their core.
